National Policy Conference Ottawa

AmCham Canada West attended AmCham Canada's National Policy Conference in Ottawa on March 25. Congratulations to National President Rick Tachuk and Kim Kelly, Director of Special Projects, for leading this outstanding event with over 70 members discussing the CUSMA-USMCA review and Canada-U.S. trade ties.

Key attendees included U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra, Hon. Pierre Poilievre (Leader of the Official Opposition), Hon. Ali Ehsassi (Parliamentary Secretary for Canada-U.S. Trade), ISED Sr. ADM Charles Vincent, U.S. Chamber SVP Neil Herrington, Nik Nanos (Nanos Research), and NorthStar Public Affairs experts.

Discussions highlighted:

  • Preserving USMCA tariff exemptions (Sections 301/338)

  • Advancing defense, energy, critical minerals competitiveness

  • Section 232 tariffs on steel, aluminum, and autos.

    Key commitments emerged for swift review completion to boost North American prosperity, including trilateral strategies, RCC regulatory alignment, and fixes for digital trade, life sciences, and pharma IP.
